Canopy Villa Park

Meerhoven is a very recent urban expansion of Eindhoven. In coöperation with Happel Cornelisse Verhoeven Architects, BOOM Landscape made the design for a very special residential area with detached villas in a collective park. Starting point for the design, were the existing qualities of the area, as the characteristic old lanes and monumental trees.

Sculptures in wooded park landscape

The villas are, like sculptures, placed in newly designed park landscape, underneath canopies of oak, birch, pine trees and spruce. A subtile planting scheme shapes the transition from public to private space. At the entrances of the villas and at transitions to public space, the planting scheme is more dense to ensure coolness and privacy. Sunny lawns flank the living rooms of the villas where one can step outside, relax and play in the sun. A system of wadis is implemented to take care of rainwater buffering and infiltration.
